It’s #MentalHealthMonth & we are all needing to have some inner strength at this time.
One way I’ve been able to feel strong & secure within myself is by practicing self-compassion. In the traditional tarot the #strength card pictures a woman taming & comforting a lion.
The woman is meant to represent the soothing inner voice that can be called upon to tame the wild, aggressive and self-deprecating lion, that represents your negative thought patterns & inner critic.
When we are practicing self-compassion it’s important to not completely shift your attention away from the negative thought patterns. We are meant to approach them with a gentle curiosity & offer our compassion like we would a good friend. Like this picture we can learn to walk along side these patterns, as they will continue to come up and threaten your inner strength. Befriend the beast and you’ll clearly see how a lion can be tamed by the power of compassion.
